RIYADH — The first phase of the one contract health insurance policy for private sector employees and their dependents began on Sunday. The objective of the one-contract policy is to protect the rights of the insured and improve the services of health insurance in the Kingdom, Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) General Secretary Muhammad Al-Hussain told Okaz. "Private sector employers will have to sign one health insurance contract, which should include employees and their dependents," said Al-Hussain. The decision will be implemented in four phases depending on the number of employees. Each phase is three months long. The first phase of the decision started on July 10 (Sunday) for employers with 100 employees or more. The second phase will start on Oct. 10. It will cover employers with more than 50 employees. The third phase will start on Jan. 10 for employers with more than 25 employees. The fourth phase will start on April 10 for employers with less than 25 employees "Employers and employees can visit the CCHI website or contact its call center for more information on the new decision and the one-contract health insurance policy. Saudi and non-Saudi employees can contact the council directly if their employer did not provide health insurance for them and their families," said Al-Hussain. He also said the council has arranged and held a series of workshops for employers and employees to introduce the one-contract health insurance policy.
