Foreign ministry following up on dead, missing Saudi students
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 19 - 01 - 2012

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been following up and resolving a number of cases involving Saudi students who have died or gone missing in the United States, Canada and New Zealand over the course of last year and the beginning of the new year.
Habib Bokhari, deputy director of the Saudi student affairs department at the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the father of missing student, Sultan Al-Dawsari, wants to keep all new information about the disappearance of his son confidential, unless he gives his approval for its release.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was notified that two Saudi students went missing and one died within a space of two weeks.
The Saudi Embassy in Ottawa, Canada, was notified about the disappearance of Hamza Al-Shareef whose case is still being investigated by the Canadian authorities.
The Saudi Embassy in Auckland, New Zealand, followed up on the case of Ali Hussain Al-Halal who drowned in that country. His body was sent to his family in the Eastern Province two days ago after being kept by New Zealand police for one week to investigate the cause of death.
Al-Halal was not the only Saudi student to drown. In November 2011, New Zealand police helicopters found the dead body of Fahd Bin Ibrahim in the Waikato River. Police said that they were chasing Fahd who fled and then fell into the river.
Mishari Al-Suraihi, 23, drowned in a lake in the US state of Ohio after trying to save a father and his son who were fishing. He saved the son. Al-Suraihi's body was sent to Jeddah in April 2011.
In Yemen, Muhammad Saleh Al-Kathiri, 23, was shot dead by a random bullet in Sana'a in October 2011, only two weeks after his marriage. The Saudi Embassy in Sana'a sent his body to his family.
In November 2011, the body of Hussain Muhammad Al-Nasser arrived in Al-Qatif. Al-Nasser, 25, died following a car accident in the US state of Tennessee.
The Saudi Embassy in Washington also investigated the death of Ahmad Al-Saadi Al-Ghamdi, son of Brig. Gen. Ali Al-Ghamdi, Director of Jeddah Police. It turned out that Ahmad died of natural causes. His body was sent to Jeddah.
Iyad Muhammad Abdul Rahman Bosais died in Vancouver, Canada, from a severe chest infection. A funeral service was organized for him at the largest mosque in Vancouver.
