Published in The Saudi Gazette on 19 - 01 - 2012

The old Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) building in Al-Hindawiya District is to be put up for public auction. The decision was made by the JCCI Board of Directors during their 18th meeting here Tuesday in which they also approved the chamber's 2012 budget.
Saleh Bin Abdullah Kamel, JCCI Chairman, revealed that the board approved the establishment of a new television channel for the chamber. It also approved a consultancy office's study to develop human resources regulations, job description and salary scale for JCCI employees.
The meeting was held at the JCCI headquarters in the presence of Mazen Bin Muhammad Batarjee, Vice Chairman and other members of the board.
The meeting began with Saleh Kamel offering the board's thanks to Adnan Bin Hussein Mandourah, Secretary General, for raising the morale of the employees and improving their performance last year.
“JCCI employees are dedicated to providing the best services to subscribers and the business community,” he said.
Saleh Kamel announced that the board has approved a SR400 million project to construct two towers near to the current JCCI headquarters. He also stressed that making the Jeddah Economic Forum 2012 a success will uplift the city.
“Last year's forums and activities confirmed Jeddah among the foremost developed cities, as it is considered to be the first city for forums in the Mid-East. Every year the city witnesses numerous specialist forums, particularly those related to economic activity,” he said.
He insisted this would continue so long as the chamber's hardworking employees and administrators remain enthusiastic.
He also praised the chamber for strengthening relations, representing the private sector and sponsoring socio-economic and humanitarian activities.
He pointed out the JCCI's recent efforts to create full participation by members through the 83 sector committees. It also facilitated services and overcame many of the private sector's obstacles enabling it to win a leading position within the sector.
He ended his speech by praising the chamber for doing its utmost to support small enterprises and Saudization and other achievements, and set an example to be followed by other chambers in the Kingdom.
