Police in Riyadh's Afif province arrested a number of expatriates without valid immigration or work status during a five-day campaign carried out recently. Several checkpoints were set up to block neighborhoods and check identification papers. Police raided a number of neighborhoods and arrested 42 people without identification and fined a number of drivers who were not carrying their car registration papers. Police also arrested 23 people that were suspects or wanted in relation to various crimes. One dead, 8 hurt in car accident TABUK — Highway patrol and the Saudi Red Crescent responded to a horrific car accident on Al-Wajh-Deba highway that resulted in the death of one man and injuries to eight others. The accident happened when two cars collided head-on. One victim was reportedly in a critical condition while the remaining suffered from middle injuries. Three ambulance teams transported the injured victims to a nearby hospital in Al-Wajh. Mom, two children die in Jazan fire JAZAN — A mother and her two children died in a fire in Sabaa village in Abu Areesh province in the Jazan region. Teams from Civil Defense and the Saudi Red Crescent were immediately deployed to the location and managed to retrieve the victims with the help of citizens in the area. The mother was reported dead on the scene while the two children died despite prompt medical assistance. Civil Defense team controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby homes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Police in Al-Jouf arrest shooter AL-JOUF — Police in Al-Jouf arrested a Saudi man who fired shots inside a football stadium during celebrations of his team's victory. A clip circulated on social media showed the man firing a couple of rounds from his machine gun after his team won a football championship. The case has been transferred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution for further investigation. Cars collide in Riyadh, one dead RIYADH — One person was killed in a car accident in Riyadh that happened on Exit 18 east. Teams from the Saudi Red Crescent arrived at the location and found the man dead at the scene and another injured as a result of collision of two cars. The injured was transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
