The Ministry of Labor is in the process of launching a plan to ensure employment for Saudi women at their homes, said Dr. Fahd Al-Takhifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Development at the ministry. He said the ministry is also going to launch a toll-free telephone number to inform Saudi female jobseekers about vacancies at lingerie and women's accessory shops. The number will also allow Saudi women to report business owners who violate government criteria involving the employment of women, reported Al-Hayat Arabic daily on Tuesday. The service is meant to involve all segments of society in the monitoring process, which is one of the priorities of the ministry. Al-Takhifi said that 43,000 Saudi females will find jobs in this sector. “I would like to inform business owners, that if they can't find Saudi women to work at their lingerie shops, then they can access the ministry's database of jobseekers.” He said the ministry is looking into the difficulties faced by Saudi women in the workplace, including transportation and working hours. “We are working on solving these obstacles.” He said Saudi society has welcomed the employment of Saudi women, based on the positive responses received by the ministry. “It should be understood that the project is not meant only to find jobs for Saudi women but is also a socioeconomic program benefiting the entire country.”
