An elderly Belgian woman embraced Islam, thanks to the efforts made by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Anzi, a preacher sent by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance to the European country. Under its annual Ramadan program, the ministry has dispatched a total of 60 imams to lead prayers in Muslim communities in 37 countries around the world this Ramadan. Al-Anzi is the imam sent to Belgium as part of the program. The 60-year-old woman from the city of Antwerp learned about Islam from Al-Anzi. Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency, she said: "What fascinated me to Islam was the thrust to establish bonds of relations among its followers and their gestures of reciprocal mercy and compassion, especially in the holy month of Ramadan. What I have lost in my life in the past five decades as a Christian, I now finds in Islam." The woman thanked Al-Anzi for his advice and prayers after her pronouncing of the shahada (the testimony of faith) while reverting to Islam amid shouts of Allahu Akbar (God is Great) by the crowds of worshippers present. — SG/SPA
