RIYADH — In the opening matches of the AS Ramadan Floodlight Tournament, which was played at International Football Academy (IFA), Gujral defeated Kashmir CC, Sinmar downed Riyadh Fighters and Blackcaps beat PTI Tigers. AS Association in Riyadh is organizing the tournament. Ten teams are participating in this 8- over-a-side event. Each team will be playing two games and the top four will qualify for the semifinals, which will be played on Thursday (June 17). In the first match, Kashmir scored 30 runs in 8 overs and Gujral replied with 31 in 7.3 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Man-of-the-Match Zaigham Abbass took 2 wickets in 1.2 overs and remained unbeaten on 5. Sinmar batted first in the second match and posted 42 in 8 overs through Mobi (12) and Navas (10). Zainal won the Man-of-the-Match award for his 2 vital wickets. For Riyadh Fighters, Nasir Abbasi waged a lone battle with 16. In the third match, PTI Tigers tallied 30 with Tariq topscoring with 12. Ejaz and Sajad of Blackcaps took 2 wickets each. In reply Blackcaps, made 31 off 7.4 overs. Adnan hit 8 not out. All matches went to the last over and it was good to see fielders diving on the turf.
