In his Friday sermon, Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim, imam and khateeb of the Grand Mosque, urged worshipers to welcome Ramadan showing more benevolence, reciting the Holy Qur'an, make supplications and seek forgiveness of their sins. He also called for supporting those members of the Islamic community on whom wars have made a debilitating effect and they were appalled by the ongoing fighting. Al-Shuraim called on the believers to hurry up to reap the boundless fruits of Ramadan. At the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, Sheikh Ali Al-Hudaifi, imam and khateeb, called on the faithful to take advantage of the holy month to fulfill obligations and duties to Almighty Allah as well as to the kith and kin, and members of the society. "Fasting shall prevent the believers from committing any aggression as well as from engaging in evil and forbidden things," he added.
