Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH/MADINAH – Muslims should continue doing good deeds even after the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Sheikh Saleh Aal Talib and Sheikh Abdulmuhsin Al-Qassim, Imams and Khateebs of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, respectively, have said. In their sermons on the last Friday of the holy month, the clerics called upon Muslims to make best use of the remaining days and nights of Ramadan. “They should continue to do good deeds during the remaining days of Ramadan and even after the holy month,” they said. Sheikh Aal Talib said although the holy month is coming to an end, there is still the Night of Power (generally believed to be the month's 27th night) and Muslims should earnestly pray and supplicate for the mercy of Almighty Allah. During the remaining days of Ramadan, he said, Muslims must recite Holy Qur'an as much as they can and do I'tikaf (pray in seclusion). He said they should make the best use of every moment because one does not know when the prayers are accepted. Aal Talib called on the Muslims to supplicate to Almighty Allah earnestly for matters in this world and the hereafter for themselves, their families and relatives, their countries and for the entire Muslim Ummah. They should also pray for their brethren in Syria, Palestine and Burma.
Sheikh Al-Qassim said Almighty Allah likes continuous good deeds even if they are small. A Muslim should always fear that his deeds might not be accepted. Good deeds should follow the bad ones so as to erase the sins. He urged Muslims to fast six days in Shawwal, recite the Qur'an, perform Qiyam Al-Lail prayer (late night prayer), give alms and supplicate. Over half a million worshipers performed Friday prayer in the Prophet's Mosque and 1.5 million devout were present in the Grand Mosque. Worshipers supplicated shedding tears, earnestly beseeching Allah to save Muslims from the Hellfire. Moderate showers in Makkah during the afternoon brought much relief to the worshipers from the socrching sun. Security arrangements in both the cities were excellent with security men and the Civil Defense personnel exerting great efforts to assist the worshipers. The Directorate of Health Affairs in Madinah intensified its health and curative services to visitors and Umrah pilgrims through all health centers and hospitals in Madinah and the five centers in the vicinity of the Prophet's Mosque around the clock.
