The Kashmir Committee, Jeddah Chapter, met on Monday at the Consulate General of Pakistan to discuss the latest visit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) delegation to Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Consul General, Shehryar Akbar Khan, shared details of the visit with the committee that was held from May 8-12, 2016. He informed the committee that the delegation called on the president of Pakistan, the adviser to the prime minister on foreign affairs and the minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan during the visit. The delegation also called on president and prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad. The OIC delegation held meetings with the chairman and members of the Special Committee of the National Assembly on Kashmir and the representatives of All Parties Hurriyat Conference. The delegation also visited the Line of Control at Chakothi where they were briefed about loss of civilian lives and property by repeated firing of the Indian forces. The Kashmir Committee, Jeddah, expressed its deepest gratitude to the OIC secretary general for his continued support for the Kashmir cause. The committee said that the recent visit has sent a strong message of political support to the oppressed people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The committee thanked Ambassador Abdullah Al-Alim, the special representative of the OIC secretary general on Jammu and Kashmir, for leading a high-powered delegation that included senior officials of the OIC Secretariat, Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF), Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The committee thanked the Consul General of Pakistan and the Consulate for extending support to the Kashmir cause.
