JEDDAH — IDB, Friends XI, Al-Safri XI, UCC, Zultrack and Marine Services came out on top in the WPCA Summer Afternoon hostilities here recently.
IDB humbled Awesome Iklil by 5 wickets. Awesome Iklil, opting to bat first, was bowled out for 115. Abdullah Shah emerged the wrecker-in-chief with 4-21 and Waleed 3-22. Asif was the top scorer with 19. IDB struggled initially at 11-2, but Usman Gulab stroked 47, Khalid Butt 25 and Waleed remained unbeaten on 26 to take their team home (116) for the loss of 5 wickets. Friends XI crushed NNG Sports by 8 wickets. NNG Sports was restricted to 110 for 9. Nabeel was the top scorer with 44 and Bilawal added 18. Umair was the pick of the bowler with 3-21. Friends XI reached 113 for 2 in 48 balls, thanks to Aamir (72 in 23 balls) and Saleem (20 not out).
Al-Safri prevailed over Jotun Paints by 95 runs. Al-Safri put into bat racked up 191 for 7. Rehan hit 39 and added 82 runs with Hasanat Ahmed (38). Aftab Malik then top scored with 43, Shehzad hit 15 and Manjeet Kumar 17. Shabbir took 2-32 and Naser 2-38. Jotun Paints, in reply, lost wickets at regular intervals to be bundled out for 96. Sajid was the top scorer with 20. Rizwan scalped 3-33, Abid 2-9, Waseeq Sherwani 2-16 and Shehzad Asif 2-29.
Lothers thrashed El Seif by 70 runs. Lothers piled up 190 for 7. Badushah hammered 95 in 46 balls as he added 135 for the opening wicket with Yasar (38). After losing 3 quick wickets, Suraj contributed 18. Irfan Qazi claimed 4 for 27. El Seif, in reply, was bowled out for 120. Arshad hit 29 and Maqsood 15. Two wickets each were claimed by Nishad (2-3), Najeeb (2-11), Rashid (2-17), Faisal (2-18) and Yasar (2-19).
UCC trounced Contraco by 6 wickets. Contraco was sent packing for 101 as Shahnawaz Khan ripped through with 5-21 and Amir Mughal grabbed 4-15. Mohsin scored 30, Abbas 19 and Shakeel 19. UCC scored 105 for 4 in 77 balls. Ahmed Faraz hit 22, Imran remained unbeaten on 26 and Shahnawaz Khan unbeaten on 30. Mohsin took 2-13.
Zultrack thrashed Thales Group by 93 runs. Zultrack piled up 188 for 9 through Mohsin (39), Qayam Ali Khan (23) and Ejaz Khan (45). Abid bagged 3-31 and Amjad Iqbal 2-10. Thales Group crashed for 95. Only three batsmen made it to the double figure with Junaid making 30 and Zia 15 and Yaser 10. Zeeshan took 3-12, Yusuf 2-6, Waqas 2-17 and Amjad 2-36.
Marine Services had the last laugh against Fuchs Alhamrani by 72 runs. Marine Services racked up 230 for 2 thanks to a scintillating century by Moiz, who blasted an unbeaten 102 in 57 balls. He first added 61 with Kashif (24) and then 142 for the unbroken 3rd wicket with Mohammad Yasir (72 not out). Fuchs was stranded at 158 for 9. Irfan Anjum stroked 59, Nazaish 16 and Nasir Khan 27. Naseer grabbed 3-15, Yaseen 3-26 and Aslam 2-27.
