Two men sentenced on terrorism charges

The Penal Court sentenced one man to death and a second to 22 years in prison on Tuesday for involvement with terrorist activities. The two men faced trial at Riyadh's Penal Court on Tuesday for involvement in a number of terrorist activities, including shooting at a police station, planting bombs several times at Qatif courthouse, vandalizing police vehicles by burning tires, holding a funeral for a wanted terrorist and participating in several public demonstrations against the government. The court also seized weapons and tools used in his terrorist attacks, such as a military suit, gas masks, guns and rifles, bullets and a laptop with illegal content on it. The men were also convicted of drug dealing and possessing hashish. The second man also received a 22 years of travel ban after his release and 79 lashes for disturbing national security.
Gang arrested
for stealing SR10m
RIYADH — The police arrested a gang for stealing up to SR10 million. Riyadh Police received a report from a currency exchange company employee, who said four armed men entered wearing veils to hide their identity, and tied up security officers and employees and threatened them at gun point. The men confiscated the cellphones of employees and security officers, and disabled surveillance cameras before making off with around SR10 million in various currencies. The police investigated the incident and arrested a Yemeni who confessed to be a member of a gang consisting of eight members, six of who are Yemeni, one Saudi, and one refugee. The police managed to arrest all the gang members, who are in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.
Two die, one
injured in car crash
RIYADH — Two men died and another was injured in a road accident on Tuesday. Riyadh Red Crescent spokesman, Abdullah Al-Miraibidh, said the Red Crescent received reports of a car crash near the National Guard Base. Two of the persons died at the scene, while a third person was injured and treated on the spot. The body of one of the deceased was completely incinerated in the accident, while the second body was taken to a nearby hospital.

Teacher detained for assaulting student
JEDDAH — A teacher was detained for physically assaulting a student. Jeddah Education Affairs spokesman, Abdulmajeed Al-Ghamdi, said a video of a teacher at a private primary school beating one of his students went viral. Despite the student crying out in pain, the teacher continued to beat the student. The directorate detained the teacher and opened an investigation into the incident. The teacher has been suspended from teaching until the directorate reveals the results of the investigation.
