50 years in prison for drug dealing

Two drug dealers were sentenced to 50 years in prison and 8,000 lashes collectively. Jeddah Police reported the drug dealers were arrested for smuggling 350 kg of hashish from Yemen into Al-Laith governorate. The dealers had accomplices in Al-Laith who were waiting to receive the shipment at sea and store it in a rented house. Police arrested the accomplices and the drug dealers as they were carrying out the transfer. Officers found money, guns and hashish in the possession of the accomplices.Meanwhile, customs officers seized 2.2 million amphetamine pills being smuggled through Dhiba port. Ali Al-Atawi, customs director at the port, said one of the vessels anchored carrying a truck with bags of pumpkin seeds, which contained the pills. The customs officers seized a total of 2.26 million amphetamine pills from the vessel.

JEDDAH — Police arrested six men and two women for having a mixed drunken party. Jeddah Police reported one of the lounges at a resort had suspicious activities, and undercover officers reported loud music and laughter at a late hour. The police barged into the lounge to find men and women partying together with alcohol served. Some guests were able to escape, but police arrested six men and two women who were drunk. During investigations police discoverd that the lounge was regularly rented to host such parties.

RIYADH — Police arrested a gang of nine Saudi men for stealing several cars. Riyadh Police received several reports from citizens and expatriates about being ambushed by a gang on a number of highways. The gang would ask the vehicle to stop, forcibly pull the driver out under the threat of a gun and steal his car. The police tracked down the gang, arrested its members, and found guns, 48 bullets, six bottles of alcohol, hashish, amphetamine pills and a sum of money in their possession.

DAMMAM — An expatriate was arrested for murdering another expatriate of his own nationality. Eastern Province Police spokesman Col. Ziyad Al-Raqiti said police received reports of an Arab expatriate who was stabbed with a knife by his roommate. The man had died as a result of the attack. The suspect allegedly escaped the scene but was later found in Jeddah and was arrested.

MAKKAH — The Border Guards arrested an expatriate found carrying a fake visa. The Ethiopian man was arrested as he tried to cross the borders of Turubah governorate using a fake visa stating that he was Somali. According to the expatriate, he had paid SR30,000 to obtain the visa. The guards forwarded his case to the pertinent authorities.
