JEDDAH — Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) hosted a reception on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day at Kababish restaurant here on Tuesday. The function was attended by members of PJF President Shahid Naeem, Chairman Amir Mohammed Khan, General Secretary Jameel Rathore, Mujeebul Hasan, Mahmoud Hasan, Liaqat Anjum and Yahiya Ashfaq executive members attended. Urdu News News editor Absar Syed and senior journalist Shahzad Azam were also present. The World Press Freedom Day reception also coincided with the farewell dinner for Yasir Naseer Sheikh, who is leaving Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after serving 5 years at Consulate General of PakistanJeddah Press section. All participants praised the services and cooperation of Yasir Naseer and wished him best of luck in the future. Amir Mohammed Khan welcomed all journalists and determined that journalists should promote the efforts of Custodian of Two Holly Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Crown Prince and his government for the unity of Arab and Islamic world, He further said that the measures, which the Saudi government has taken to eliminate local terrorist activities through law enforcement, security and intelligence measures, education, and rehabilitation, should also be highlighted. The relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is of immense importance. We should focus and highlight the strong ties between the two brotherly Muslim countries, Khan added. Shahid Naeem, who presided over the gathering, said in his speech that efforts should be made to promote the motto of Islamic ideology, justice, independency and trust in free media and in the principle of transparency in dealing with journalists and the media. Jamil Rathore highlighted the importance of free press and world press freedom day. He also paid tribute to those journalists who laid down their lives in the course of their duties on this day.
