NRI's Saudi Champions Trophy kicks off in Jeddah

Jeddah Deccan Trophy (JDT) started its much-awaited season with NRI's Saudi Champions Trophy at Sulaimania grounds in Jeddah recently.
Hyderabad Friends XI and Deccan Friends XI are organizing the tournament, dedicated to late Farooq Malik. It is being supported and sponsored by Friendi Mobile, Pepsico, Mariam Trading Company, Taza Grille and Axiom Telecommunications. This contest is powered and supported by the NRI Saudi Cricket Fraternity Forum.
A total of 16 teams registered for the event, which will culminate with a final on June 3.
The teams are divided into two groups. Group A consisting of Axiom Cricket Club, Parwaz Cricket Club, Junaid Cricket Club, Hyderabad Friends XI, Model Town Cricket Club, Besties Cricket Club, Malik Friends Cricket Club and Enviro Cricket Club. Group B comprises Empower Air Technologies, Empower Contracting, Jameel Square Cricket Team, Telangana Warriors, Deccan Friends XI, Quba Cricket Club, Deccan Chargers Sharafia and Jeddah Thunders.
The organizing committee of Jeddah Deccan Trophy met with the JCA organizing committee — Chairman Dr. Faiz Al-Abideen, Vice Chairman Humayun Farooqui, CEO Muhammad Iqbal, Director Samir Nidal Khan, President Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Vice President Hamid Rana and Executive Secretary Haroon Abdullah Bin Mahfooz. They agreed to work together to promote the game in the Kingdom.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, JDT President Mohammed Faheem, Vice President Irfan Sarosh, General Secretary Syed Aliuddin, Admin Secretary Sajjad Mirza attributed the instant success of the tournament to the hard work of JDT committee members, sponsors, participating teams and the patronage given by JCA.

Junaid CC 126-7 in 15 overs (Lateef 35, Ather 37; 4-16) beat Hyderabad Friends XI 124-9 in 15 overs (Atif 35, Fasiuddin 30; Javed 2-31), Model Town 137-7 in 15 overs (Mubashir 31, Samad 27; 3-15) downed Malik Friends 80-9 in 15 overs (Malik 19, Waheed 17; Shami 2-19), Empower Contracting 150-6 in 15 overs (Afraz 51, Taimoor 47, Roshan 2-11) defeated Jameel Square 101-9 in 15 overs (Azeem 22, Mustafa 17; Shakeel 3-10), Deccan Chargers Sharafia 63 all out in 9.3 overs (Aman 20, Abid 9; Irfan 2-10) lost to Empower Air Technologies 64-4 in 11 overs (Musharraf 22, Shahnawaz 13; Mujahid 3-12), Jeddah Thunders 148-7 in 15 overs (Tahir 51, Zahir 37, Zeeshan 2-23) lost to Deccan Friends XI 150-5 in 13.5 overs (Aijaz 42, Nadeem 36, Arif 1-21).
