Jeddah Deccan Trophy (JDT) started its much-awaited season with NRI's Saudi Champions Trophy at Sulaimania grounds in Jeddah recently. Hyderabad Friends XI and Deccan Friends XI are organizing the tournament, dedicated to late Farooq Malik. It is being supported and sponsored by Friendi Mobile, Pepsico, Mariam Trading Company, Taza Grille and Axiom Telecommunications. This contest is powered and supported by the NRI Saudi Cricket Fraternity Forum. A total of 16 teams registered for the event, which will culminate with a final on June 3. The teams are divided into two groups. Group A consisting of Axiom Cricket Club, Parwaz Cricket Club, Junaid Cricket Club, Hyderabad Friends XI, Model Town Cricket Club, Besties Cricket Club, Malik Friends Cricket Club and Enviro Cricket Club. Group B comprises Empower Air Technologies, Empower Contracting, Jameel Square Cricket Team, Telangana Warriors, Deccan Friends XI, Quba Cricket Club, Deccan Chargers Sharafia and Jeddah Thunders. The organizing committee of Jeddah Deccan Trophy met with the JCA organizing committee — Chairman Dr. Faiz Al-Abideen, Vice Chairman Humayun Farooqui, CEO Muhammad Iqbal, Director Samir Nidal Khan, President Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Vice President Hamid Rana and Executive Secretary Haroon Abdullah Bin Mahfooz. They agreed to work together to promote the game in the Kingdom. Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, JDT President Mohammed Faheem, Vice President Irfan Sarosh, General Secretary Syed Aliuddin, Admin Secretary Sajjad Mirza attributed the instant success of the tournament to the hard work of JDT committee members, sponsors, participating teams and the patronage given by JCA.
