RIYADH — Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, said that the stability and security enjoyed by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states have contributed tremendously in creating an appropriate environment for robust economic, social and cultural development in the region. "This is more significant in view of the unfortunate turbulent security situation and worrisome social and economic conditions prevailing in most of the countries in the region," the Crown Prince said while chairing the 17th consultative meeting of GCC interior ministers at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh on Wednesday. Crown Prince Muhammad conveyed the greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to the interior ministers. He said that the King is always keen to further bolster the security of the GCC states and their peoples and strengthen unity to face the challenges. "Security touches the life of everybody, including those working for it as well as its beneficiaries. "It is the safety valve to ensure the stability and dignity of nations, in the absence of which, God forbid, there will be losses, alienation and humiliation. "Therefore, maintaining security is the joint responsibility, religious obligation, and national requirement of all. "Every citizen has to shoulder his responsibility in safeguarding it," the Crown Prince said, underscoring the need to stand united in stamping out the unprecedented threat facing the region in the form of terror.
