TVTC giving training to open women-only mobile repair shops
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 04 - 2016

TAIF — The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) reported that the Ministry of Labor plans to open women-only mobile repair shops.
"The corporation has already offered a program on mobile technology and repair to 300 participants. The graduates of the program will be highly qualified to offer the required services in mobile repair," said the source.
The source also said the decision to Saudize the telecommunication sector will provide many jobs for Saudi women.
"The corporation is also training women on customer services. The programs are sponsored by Hadf Human Resources Development Funds. The corporation supports the Saudization of the private sector as its programs graduate highly qualified participants who are in search of jobs," said the source.
The source also said the first stage of the training program began on April 3 in Taif.
"There were 105 participants in the sales management training program. There were 45 participants in the customer service training program. The programs are five days long which aim to grant participants the skills to plan and define goals when running a business," said the source.
"The second stage of the program began on April 17. The participants learnt the basics of mobile repair. There were 193 participants in the second stage. The program included 11 groups and nine trainers.
"Most of the trainers have a Master's degree in business administration," said the source.
He also said the registration for the program is still open. Applicants can register through the corporation's e-portal.
"There is no registration fee for the programs. To register, applicants may visit https://ctc.tvtc.gov.sa. Applicants must be Saudis, above 18 years of age and should not be already employed in the private or public sectors," said the source.
In an effort to provide more jobs to Saudi Arabian citizens, the Ministry of Labor announced in March that it will ban foreign workers from selling and maintaining mobile phones and accessories.
Stores selling mobile communications devices will have to ensure that at least 50 percent of staff doing such work are Saudi citizens in three months' time, the ministry said. By September, the required ratio will rise to 100 percent.
