Averda showcases its innovative recycling tech
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 20 - 04 - 2016

day GCC Waste Management and Recycling Forum that ended in Riyadh last April 14 enjoyed the presence of thousands of visitors and hundreds of municipality representatives from across the entire GCC region.
Averda, A sponsor of this regional event organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs of Saudi Arabia, presented the hundreds of visitors to its stand with a detailed description of its activities related to waste management services and city cleaning in Saudi Arabia. Live demonstrations of Averda's innovative recycling technology using the Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) were made and the various incentivizing options presented, ranging from supermarket vouchers to airline miles.
Averda's operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia started in 2009 and, until earlier this year, its activities mainly consisted of servicing the commercial/private sector. Already providing a full range of waste management services to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology – ranging from waste collection to recycling services – Averda expanded its pool of services provided in Saudi Arabia by winning two city cleaning contracts: Alishaa and Tabuk.
Serving five major cities - Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Alihsaa and Tabuk – and one internationally renowned academic centre, Averda's pool of clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reached more than 650 (private and public).
Wissam Zantout, Averda's KSA Managing Director, said: "Averda specializes in the full range of city cleaning services and private waste management services. We have been present in KSA for 7 years and we have striven to provide our clients with a bespoke waste management service – we understand the waste characteristics, the waste stream flow and the waste patterns. By the end of 2016, the number of our KSA staff will reach 2,000 people and our services will be supported by a fleet of more than 300 specialized vehicles."
