'Honored' Mourinho rejects chance to coach Syria
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 04 - 2016

Jose Mourinho has politely declined the Syrian football federation's offer for him to coach the war-torn nation's team, his agent says.
In an email to the Associated Press, Jorge Mendes' company Gestifute confirms that the Portuguese coach received the offer.
The former Chelsea manager has replied that "while he felt honored to receive the invitation, he cannot at the moment accept it," the email says. Mourinho has been without a team since leaving Chelsea in December.
Syria's national soccer team, which has never qualified for the World Cup, is to play in Asia's third round of qualifying, scheduled to begin in August.
Inter moves fourth
Inter Milan kept its slender hopes of securing a Champions League spot alive as it struggled to a 1-0 win at 10-man Frosinone in Serie A Saturday.
Mauro Icardi's 74th-minute header into the top far corner from Ivan Perisic's cross was enough to give Inter all three points. It was the Inter captain's 50th goal in 100 league matches for the club.
Frosinone had the better chances and hit the woodwork three times.
Defender Leonardo Blanchard was sent off for a second yellow card 10 minutes from time.
Inter moved provisionally fourth, two points above Fiorentina and five points behind third-place Roma which currently occupies the final Champions League qualifying spot. Roma hosts Bologna Monday. Frosinone remained one point from safety.
PSG wins at Guingamp
Brazilian winger Lucas scored twice in the second half as French champion Paris Saint-Germain eased to a 2-0 win at struggling Guingamp Saturday.
Lucas coolly slotted home a penalty in the 56th minute and swept home his second goal 15 minutes later after a fine run and pass from left back Layvin Kurzawa, who was involved in a first-half collision with his goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
Trapp went off at halftime clutching his right knee in a precautionary measure ahead of Tuesday's Champions League quarterfinal second leg at Manchester City — with the tie delicately poised at 2-2.
With that match in mind, coach Laurent Blanc rested star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, winger Angel Di Maria, forward Edinson Cavani, midfielder Thiago Motta, center half Thiago Silva and left back Maxwell.
On Friday, teenage forward Maxwell Cornet scored twice as Lyon won 2-0 at Montpellier to boost its bid to finish second in the French league.
