More than 100 volunteers from the Indian community donated blood at King Khalid University Hospital (KKUH) in Riyadh during a blood donation campaign organized by Riyadh Indian Association (RIA) on its 16th anniversary in conformity with the WHO's slogan "share life, give blood", campaign. The theme of this year's World Blood Donor Day is "Blood connects us all". It focuses on thanking blood donors and highlights the dimension of "sharing" and "connection" between blood donors and patients. In addition, we have adopted the slogan "Share life, give blood", to draw attention to the roles that voluntary donation systems play in encouraging people to care for one another and promote community cohesion. The campaign aims to highlight stories of people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, to motivate regular blood donors to continue giving blood, and motivate people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so, particularly young people. RIA president Mohan Ponnath, secretary Shaik Abdullah, Mathew Idikula (Monichen), Cleetus, Jayachandran and Sherin Joseph coordinated and led the blood donation campaign. The RIA team appreciated the sincere efforts of KKUH blood bank staff, supervisor Latheefa, who made all arrangements from hospital to make this campaign a grand success with heavy turn-out of volunteers. RIA expressed its deepest gratitude to all RIA volunteers, well wishers for their selfless support for donating blood and continued cooperation to help those in need.
