Andy Murray was one match away from his 22nd career singles title with new coach Ivan Lendl in his corner and Kaia Kanepi won her second WTA title with a dominating performance over Daniela Hantuchova at the Brisbane International on Saturday. Kanepi won all but one point in the first four games of the second set and went on to beat Hantuchova 6-2, 6-1 in the women's final to add to her 2010 tournament title at Palermo. The 28-year-old Hantuchova had an abbreviated run into the Brisbane final when 13-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams withdrew from their scheduled quarterfinal after injuring her left ankle and Australian Open champion Kim Clijsters retired in the second set of their semifinal with a hip strain. Earlier a merciless Murray subjected Australia's Bernard Tomic to a 6-3, 6-2 thrashing to deflate local fans and set up an intriguing final with Alexandr Dolgopolov. World No. 4 Murray had ended Dolgopolov's barnstorming run to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open last year and appears in fine fettle for the re-match after disposing of Wimbledon quarterfinalist Tomic with clinical efficiency. Murray will meet Dolgopolov after the pony-tailed Ukrainian ground down Frenchman Gilles Simon 6-3, 6-4 in the first semifinal. Auckland Classic The Auckland Classic singles final between China's Zheng Jie and Italian Flavia Pennetta has been put off until Sunday due to persistent rain showers, tournament organizers said. The match, originally set for Saturday, had been rescheduled to start at 1100 local time Sunday (2200 GMT Saturday). Stosur vs. Schiavone Grand Slam champions Samantha Stosur and Francesca Schiavone will meet in the first round of the Sydney International — a rematch of their 2010 French Open final won by the Italian player. The high-profile encounter is a byproduct of the strength of the field — nine of the top 10 players in the WTA rankings are entered in tournament which begins Sunday. Stosur is the fifth-seeded player, while 11th-ranked Schiavone was outside the eight seeds. Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki and Wimbledon champion and second-seeded Petra Kvitova have first-round byes, as do No. 3 Victoria Azarenka and fourth-seeded French Open champion Li Na of China.
