RIYADH — The Saudi security authorities have arrested 82 terror suspects during the past 13 days from various locations in Riyadh, security sources announced Sunday.
They said the suspects are currently under investigation to find out if they had any connection with terrorist activities in the Kingdom.
The sources said the suspects belong to seven nationalities: 52 Saudis, 13 Yemenis, nine Iranians, five Syrians, a Turk, an Indian and an Egyptian.
The sources said the suspects were caught without any resistance.
Earlier this month, the security forces arrested Suwailem Al-Hadi Al-Ruwaili, who is among 16 terrorists wanted in connection with several terror acts.
Bannan Isa Hilal, who is presumed to be his wife, was killed in a raid at their hideout in Al-Jouf region on March 10, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The ministry published on June 3, 2015, a list of 16 terror suspects, including Al-Ruwaili, for their involvement in several terror attacks. The spokesman said that Al-Ruwaili was accused of involvement in firing at worshippers at Al-Mustafa Mosque in Al-Dalwah village on Nov. 11, 2014 (Muharram 10, 1436) and suicide blast that targeted worshippers at the mosque of Special Emergency Forces in Asir region on Aug. 6, 2015 (Shawwal 21, 1436).
In the midst of the ongoing massive manhunt, the security forces came to know that Al-Ruwaili was given shelter by another terror suspect Naem Abdullah Naem Al-Khalaf at his house in Al-Jouf region. During the raid at the house on Thursday, both Al-Ruwaili and Al-Khalaf were arrested, while Bannan posed an armed resistance with her machine-gun during which she sustained injuries. She was taken to hospital where she was succumbed to her injuries.
