If you are craving burgers, head over to South Street Jeddah on Prince Sultan Street in Al Mohammadiya district. South Street is a causal, American-style diner that serves scrumptious burgers. With just a one-page menu, the restaurant offers only a handful of burgers in both chicken and beef, as well as appetizers and drinks. The Italian burger and the classic American burger, both of which come accompanied with French fries, were very delicious. The brown buns were fresh and soft, while the well-done beef patties in both burgers were succulent. The Italian burger was simple in flavor, while the American burger was a sheer delight on the palate. The zucchini fries, though, were equally appetizing. South Street's décor is raw, with corrugated sheets on the walls of the semi-open kitchen and the ceiling, which is also aligned with ducts and huge lights. A life-size graffiti bulls adorn a wall in both the singles and the family sections, adding a funky touch to the spacious dining room. Assorted sauces and disposable plastic gloves in a pack are kept on paper mats on steel dining tables. In line with the theme, our meals were also served on small steel trays: burger in a handy box, fries in a small mesh, and our cold drinks of dark mojito and Seven-up in mason jars. The dining area is spacious and on weekends it is difficult to find a table, especially in the family section. Parking can sometimes be a problem as the restaurant is located on the main street.
