Saudi Healthcare Forum starts; seeks public-private partnership

JEDDAH — A three-day Saudi International Healthcare Forum will start in Jeddah Hilton today (March 20) under the patronage of Prince Khalid Al - Faisal, the adviser of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Emir of Makkah region. It will be inaugurated by Prince Mishaal bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah.
Around 300 prominent experts and specialists from inside and outside the Kingdom will attend the event.
The Forum explores the best ways to reduce the costs of treatments, new research on the health economics, training and rehabilitation as well as latest technological inventions.
It also helps to establish the partnership between the public and private sectors.
Adel Abdul Shakoor, chairman of the Organizing Committee and CEO of the XS group for organizing conferences and exhibitions, said "it would be a big focus on health economics, research, training and review of the latest technologies in the medical and health sector. It involves wide participation of US, and seeks to promote growth and prosperity of the Saudi and US companies."
The event is organized by XS group in cooperation with the Saudi Council of Jeddah Chambers, and King Abdul Aziz University as an academic partner.
Shakoor hopes that the forum will develop and exchange the knowledge in technical fields and in the fields of education, health care, and innovations between the Saudi and American sides.
Dr. Samar Alsaggaf, president of the Scientific Committee, said "the forum will provide a wide range of opportunities for government officials, non-governmental organizations, health care systems, physicians, researchers, teachers, artisans, entrepreneurs and students in Saudi Arabia, and the United States of America. The aim of working together is to make a difference in providing healthier humans life."
She pointed out that the forum sessions include and cover all health care chain, from research to innovation.
"It's from the lab to the market, A long-term cooperation in the fields of research and innovation, education and training with key partners," she added, saying that the forum will lead to better integration between the regional and international healthcare development.
