Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohamed Jamil Mulla is scheduled to open the first session of the Jeddah Information and Technology Economic Commission (JITEC) on Saturday, May 10, at the Jeddah Hilton hotel. The three-day forum has been organized by XS Conferences and Exhibitions, with the participation of a number of government sectors, such as the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC), King Abdul Aziz City for Sciences and Technology, and King Abdul Aziz Organization for Creativity and Skills, as well as prominent telecommunications companies. The main focus of the forum will be emerging information technology. “We aim to shed light on this ever-growing industry, specially during the huge growth in the Saudi economy,” said Adel Abdulshakour, chief executive of XS. Abdulshakour added that the forum will be attended by a number of corporate executives, representatives of local companies in the communications sector. He also said the forum will host more than 40 speakers who will talk about the future of the industry and how to make the best of communication and information technology. “More than SR40 billion have been invested in the fields of communications and information technology,” said Abdulshakour. “That kind of investment motivated companies to inject the latest technology into the Kingdom, so the communications and information technology sector is a pillar of the national economy.” He also said the boom in the sector is a great opportunity for young Saudis to get employed. __
