Barca-Atletico, PSG-City in Champs quarters
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 19 - 03 - 2016

Holder Barcelona and its feared attacking trident drew fellow Spaniard and 2014 finalist Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last eight Friday.
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, Barcelona's feared attacking trio, will seek revenge for their 2-1 aggregate quarterfinals exit at the hands of Diego Simeone's charges two seasons ago.
In another tantalizing pair up new money outfits Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain face off after Swedish giant Zlatan Ibrahimovic's side toppled Chelsea in the last round. It is a first ever quarterfinals for City.
Having overcome Juventus in a dramatic come back in midweek five-time European champion Bayern Munich will have been relieved to have drawn Portugal's Benfica.
Zinedine Zidane's ten-time winner Real Madrid and the Champions League's runaway top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo (13 goals), drew Germans Wolfsburg, with the added comfort of playing at home in the second leg against the quarterfinal debutant.
The two legs of the quarterfinals will be played between April 5-13, with the semifinals on April 26-27 and May 3-4. The final will take place in Milan on May 28.
Liverpool draws Borussia
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp will come up against former club Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League quarterfinals.
Klopp spent seven years as Dortmund coach before stepping down in 2015. He was hired by Liverpool in October. The teams were chosen to face each other in Friday's draw.
Sevilla, seeking a third straight Europa League title, will face Athletic Bilbao in an all-Spanish contest. Villarreal, the third Spanish team in the quarterfinals, will play Sparta Prague while Braga will take on Shakhtar Donetsk.
Reds eliminate Man United
A stunning solo goal by Philippe Coutinho helped Liverpool eliminate great rival Manchester United from the Europa League, while titleholder Sevilla and tournament favorite Borussia Dortmund also reached the quarterfinals with ease Thursday.
Liverpool drew 1-1 with United at Old Trafford to seal a 3-1 aggregate victory, with Coutinho scoring the equalizer — and all-important away goal — on the stroke of halftime by dribbling into the box and applying an extravagant chip for his finish.
Sevilla — seeking a third straight Europa League title — beat Basel 3-0 to advance by the same score on aggregate, and the prolific Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored Dortmund's goals in a 2-1 win at Tottenham for 5-1 overall.
Sparta Prague eliminated Lazio by winning 3-0 away in the round's big upset.
Gary Neville's Valencia was sent crashing out after it lost its last-16 tie to Spanish rival Athletic Bilbao on away goals despite winning the second leg 2-1. Valencia had been trailing 1-0 after last week's first leg at San Mames.
Other teams to go through were Villarreal, Shakhtar Donetsk and Braga.
Manchester United and Liverpool, meanwhile, were charged by UEFA following crowd trouble, the governing body announced on Friday.
Five men were arrested following the disturbances Thursday night which saw rival fans fighting in the stands and flares and objects thrown.
