The Emir of Makkah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal is taking steps to turn Makkah into a smart city. He made the announcement at his office in Jeddah on Wednesday while speaking to representatives of a number of IT companies including those of Google, Microsoft, and CISCO. During the meeting, the Emir discussed with the representatives the executive steps of the smart-city project, which is part of the King's project for the development of the holy sites. “The King's project will be carried out according to the latest international specifications. The latest technology will be applied to establish an advanced technological infrastructure that will turn Makkah into a smart city,” Prince Khaled said. The companies' representatives briefed him on their technological potentials and how they can play a key role in turning Makkah into a smart city. Meanwhile, the Prince also gave directives, while addressing a worshop, to make the best use of specialist funds to speed up the process of Saudization in the region. __
