Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA), Solaiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan, who is the chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Arabian Airline Company (Saudia) and the director general of the national carrier Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser have together honored co-pilot Rami bin Ghazi Batubarah who piloted Saudia's flight No. 1734 from Bisha to Riyadh last week when its pilot Waleed Al-Mahammad suddenly died of a heart attack. Saudia's echelons said the co-pilot did not panic and took responsibility applying all the safety measures in such circumstances until the plane landed safely at King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh. Hamdan and Jasser commended Batubarah and said he acted with confidence and bravado in a most difficult situation. — SG
