The Ministry of Commerce has uncovered a Saudi national who provided cover-up (tasattur) to six Arab expatriates who were running commercial ventures in the Eastern Province city of Al-Khobar, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday, quoting a ministry statement. During a surprise inspection of the six establishments, which carried out various business activities, the ministry teams found documents and material evidence showing that two Arab expatriates were responsible for managing the establishments. A Saudi citizen provided them ‘tasattur', allowing them to use his commercial registration to run the business operations in return for a percentage of the profits. The ministry summoned all concerned parties and questioned them ahead of referring the case to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution (BIP) to complete the investigations. The the case will then be referred to the Board of Grievances to issue a final verdict. The ministry called on members of the public who have evidence on tasattur operations to report them through the unified telephone number 1900. The ministry will grant a financial reward to individuals who give accurate information about tasattur operations. The amount of the reward could reach as high as 30 percent of the fines imposed on the perpetrators.
