Residents in Oruah neighborhood of Madinah have complained of engineering and design defects in Prince Sultan Road that they say have damaged their properties and caused them huge losses. However, Madinah Municipality denied that the project had any design errors and said no private property had been affected by the expansion of the road. Citizen Abdul Rahman Al-Subhi, whose real estate has been disrupted by the road expansion, said: "The path of the street is not correct and there has been an engineering error. The road in front of my house is more than 80 meters wide while the expansion is done in one direction only although there is a possibility of expanding it in the other direction too." Al-Subhi called for a neutral committee to visit the site to determine the expansion path. Citizen Oweidh Al-Saadi said that there was something wrong with the street where expansion has been happening in the direction that affects people's properties and not the other way. "We want fairness in the implementation of projects so as not to hurt the citizens," Al-Saadi said. Another resident, Salem Al-Lahibi, said the street could cost the government huge amounts of money due to erroneous planning. "At least four properties would be affected although it is not a main road and not many people will benefit from it," Al-Lahibi said. Media spokesman for the municipality Khalid Bin Miteb denied the project had any geometric errors and said that the width of the road required the expropriation of properties from its eastern side.
