DR. Abdullah Al-Turki, secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL), lauded the remarkable achievements and outstanding contributions being made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman in serving the Islamic Ummah worldwide. In a statement issued on the occasion of the first anniversary of the King's ascension to the throne, Dr. Al-Turki said: "King Salman has drawn a road map to regain the prestige and dignity of the Muslim Ummah through his position to stand by his brothers in Yemen during the operations of the ‘Decisive Storm' and the ‘Restoration of Hope' in a bid to restore legitimacy in the neighboring country. This was in response to a request from the Yemeni President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi against the Houthi militias and supporters of the deposed President Ali Abdullah Saleh." Al-Turki praised the historic initiative made by the King in establishing the Islamic Military Alliance, comprising 34 states, saying that this shows the King's resolve to fight terror in all its forms and manifestations so as to fulfill his obligations to save the Islamic Ummah from the scourge of terror. "We, the officials at MWL, receive several calls and communications from several Islamic organizations as well as from many scholars and thinkers from across the world in which they appreciate the policy of the Kingdom as it has the potential to realize their aspirations toward achieving Islamic unity and solidarity. The King's words and deeds reemphasize the Kingdom's keenness in achieving solidarity among the Muslims and closing their ranks after putting out the fire of sedition and conflict," he said, adding that the Kingdom witnesses remarkable achievements that are manifested in the welfare of people, growth of economy and strengthening the national unity. The MWL chief drew attention to the great achievements made by the league during the period of King Salman. "MWL organized several conferences and programs under the auspices of the King, of which the most important was the international conference with the theme of ‘Islam and fighting terrorism.' At the end of the session, the King met with the scholars and other participants of the conference, and called on them to join hands in effectively countering terrorism and extending support to the global initiatives in this regard." Al-Turki emphasized that MWL is keen to continue keeping in touch with Muslims worldwide to achieve their solidarity. He also warned them against being victims of split, sectarianism, terrorism and extremism.
