The speech of Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at a symposium on Salafism at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh on Tuesday has corrected misconceptions which have distorted the original concept for which this approach is distinguished. The origin of Salafism stems from principles derived from the purest roots of Islam. The Kingdom is based on moderate Salafi approach and follows the teachings of Islam in all its activities. The Kingdom is open to the world and to all human cultures and modern sciences as well. The Crown Prince's speech has corrected misconceptions about Salafism which some people mistakenly link to terrorism and extremism. A true Salafi values Tawhid, singling out Allah in all aspects of worship, in one's supplication, in seeking aid, in making vows, in harboring fear, hoping and total reliance. The Salafi Dawah “Call” is that of the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah. It is the religion of Islam – pure and free from any additions, deletions or alterations. Misconceptions that have engulfed this pure Islamic doctrine have made it necessary to clarify the concept of Salafism and protect it from the misdirected accusations against it. Thus the purpose of the symposium organized by Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University was to clear this genuine Islamic doctrine from stereotyped misconceptions. The Kingdom is open to the world's civilizations and to modern science, and we take pride in being Salafist. We are grateful to Allah for this blessing. __
