The Saudi Scholastic Society of the Sunnah and its Sciences is organizing a three-day conference entitled “Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy”, peace be upon him, at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University starting here on Oct. 2. The conference is being organized under the patronage of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It aims to present Islam and its teachings to delegates, introduce the Prophet (pbuh) as a person, and his message on the concept of mercy. Delegates will also study how Westerners view the Prophet (pbuh) and defend his legacy based on sound legal and rational arguments. Another aim of the conference is to correct the misconceptions and confusion about Islam and its messenger, and to correct some Muslims' behavior that contradicts his instructions and guidance. The conference will discuss several topics including the endeavors of the pious predecessors; the role of the media and modern technology; and efforts of Islamic organizations to spread and highlight various aspects of Islam.
