Blackhawks edge Penguins
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 07 - 01 - 2016

Artemi Panarin's second goal of the game came in overtime and gave the Chicago Blackhawks a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday.
Jonathan Toews also scored for Chicago.
Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang had scored for the Penguins, who erased a 2-0 deficit.
Rangers 6, Stars 3: Derek Stepan scored twice to help the New York Rangers to an easy 6-3 victory against the league-leading Dallas Stars at Madison Square Garden.
Derick Brassard, Viktor Stalberg, Jayson Megna and Keith Yandle also scored for the Rangers, who are 3-2-0 in their past five games after a 3-9-2 stretch.
Panthers 5, Sabres 1: Five Florida players scored, leading the Panthers to a 5-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
Jaromir Jagr, Derek Mackenzie, Corban Knight, Jonathan Huberdeau and Brandon Pirri scored for Florida (24-12-4), who extended their franchise-best winning streak to 10 games. Goalie Roberto Luongo made 31 saves.
Wild 4, Blue Jackets 2: Zach Parise recorded his first hat trick of the season, leading the Minnesota Wild to a 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday at Nationwide Arena.
Parise, who increased his season total to 14 goals, was set up on both of his first two goals by Mikael Granlund.
Capitals 3, Bruins 2: The Washington Capitals took over top spot in the standings with a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins Tuesday.
Evgeny Kuznetsov scored one goal and set up another and Braden Holtby stopped 25 shots for the Capitals, who are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games. Washington (29-7-3) passed the Dallas Stars, who lost Tuesday to the New York Rangers, for No. 1 in the overall standings.
Flyers 4, Canadiens 3: The Philadelphia Flyers came home and their scuffling offense came to life in a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday at Wells Fargo Center.
After dropping three in a row — all on the road while being outscored 10-5 — the Flyers (16-15-7) received multi-point efforts from Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier and Shayne Gostisbehere to pick up their first victory since Dec. 21.
For the Canadiens (22-16-3), their disappointing eight-game road swing came to a conclusion as they went 2-6-0 on the trip and were outscored 33-18.
Jets 4, Predators 1: The Winnipeg Jets got 43 saves from rookie goalie Connor Hellebuyck as they dumped the Nashville Predators 4-1 at Bridgestone Arena.
Flames 3, Lightning 1: Flames goaltender Karri Ramo stopped 30 of 31 shots he faced to backstop Calgary to a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Looking for his second straight shutout, Ramo gave up a late goal to Lightning center Steven Stamkos with just 1:39 left in the third period.
