Defenseman Dan Boyle scored the deciding goal in a shootout as the New York Rangers extended their winning streak to eight games with a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators in NHL Saturday. Boyle, who was born in Ottawa, beat Senators goalie Craig Anderson with a high shot to end the game. New York's Chris Kreider opened the scoring in regulation with a power-play goal 2:31 into the first period when he deflected a shot by Kevin Hayes. Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson tied it up four minutes later with neither side able to score again. Bruins 3, Red Wings 1: The Boston Bruins scored three goals in the second period to produce a 3-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Centers Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci and defenseman Torey Krug all scored for Boston. Goaltender Tuukka Rask lost his shutout bid on a power play goal by left winger Justin Abdelkader with 13:23 left. Devils 4, Penguins 0: Goaltender Cory Schneider made 21 saves to record his first shutout of the season in the New Jersey Devils' 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The shutout was the 18th of Schneider's NHL career, and his second against Pittsburgh. Defenseman David Schlemko, left winger Mike Cammalleri and right wingers Bobby Farnham and Lee Stempiak all scored for New Jersey. Jeff Zatkoff stopped 33 shots for Pittsburgh. Avalanche 6, Canadiens 1: Center Nathan MacKinnon recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 6-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Goaltender Reto Berra stopped 39 shots for Colorado. Mike Condon stopped only 7 of 11 shots in two periods before he was replaced in the third period by Dustin Tokarski, who made 11 saves in relief. Flyers 3, Hurricanes 2 (OT): Right winger Jakub Voracek scored 37 seconds into overtime as the Philadelphia Flyers wiped away some of their offensive struggles with a late-game surge to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes. Voracek's first goal of the season came on the only shot on goal in the extra session. The Flyers were stagnant on offense until the third period, but they found enough spark to win for only the second time in their last nine games. Flyers right winger Wayne Simmonds scored with 3:09 remaining in regulation to tie the game. Goalie Steve Mason stopped 19 shots. Sharks 2, Sabres 1 (OT): Left winger Patrick Marleau scored 2:59 into overtime to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres. After defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic's long shot ricocheted off the right post, Marleau put home the rebound for his fifth goal of the season. Vlasic scored in regulation for the Sharks, who got 30 saves from Martin Jones. Center Ryan O'Reilly scored for the Sabres. Goalie Chad Johnson made 30 saves. Panthers 5, Lightning 4 (SO): Brandon Pirri scored the only goal in the shootout to lead the Florida Panthers to a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Despite giving up four goals in regulation, Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo came up big in overtime and stopped all three Lightning shooters in the shootout. Stars 3, Wild 2 (OT): Dallas Stars defenseman John Klingberg capped a three-point performance with the game winner 3:18 into overtime in a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Klingberg beat Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk, who stopped 33 of 36 shots, after a nice pass from center Tyler Seguin to seal the win. Center Jason Spezza and left winger Jamie Benn also scored for Dallas, while goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 22 of 24 shots.
