The Shoura Council agreed on Monday to raise the minimum pension given to retired government staffers to SR4,000. The proposal to raise the minimum pension was put to vote during discussions of the Annual Report of the Public Pension Agency (PPA) and the majority of members voted in favor, local papers reported Tuesday. The council's Management and Human Resources Committee tabled the report on Sunday with its observations and the debate continued into Monday. While approving the increase, the members expressed appreciation of the services of the public servants and the members of the armed forces who had contributed toward national development. The council also requested the PPA to give details of its local and foreign investments in the subsequent annual report so that evaluation of its performance can be facilitated.
