The Jeddah Shopping Festival, organized by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), is scheduled to start on Jan.18. The organizers announced here Tuesday, at the JCCI headquarters, that the Jeddah Mayoralty has joined the festival as a strategic partner to market the Historical Area as a venue for activities. This is aimed at linking the public to the city's past. Dr. Hani Abu Ras, Mayor of Jeddah, said the festival will help promote Jeddah as the Kingdom's foremost tourist destination. The organizers also announced the launch of the festival's website and contact details on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Ala Al-Safah, Director of the Data System at the JCCI and Supervisor of the festival's website, said the website provides a list of shops, malls, restaurants and hotels offering discounts. Muhammad Abdul Qader Hafez, Chairman of the festival's organizing committee, said the website can be found at www.hayyajeddah.com. It also provides the history and pictures of the Historical Area. He said the festival will be an ideal gathering place for Saudi and Gulf families.
