Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — In the first few days of the Jeddah International Motor Show 2015, the Aramco driving simulation truck is attracting visitors with its and interactive activations. Visitors were particularly wowed by the simulation truck, which teaches the importance of safe driving. The program is conducted with the cooperation of the Eastern Province Traffic Safety Council and Aramco, according to Ibrahim Al Qarawi, supervisor of Aramco driving simulation truck here at the Jeddah Motor Show. He explained that through this simulator, young drivers have the opportunity to learn safe driving. The simulator has been programmed to show a virtual city, streets small buildings, a footpath and surveillance cameras to check speeding. "We are participating in this year's Jeddah Motor Show to provide our service to the community as it is our aim and responsibility to spread the message of safe driving," he said. Explaining the feature of the simulator, Al Qarawi said "visitors taking part in the test of driving skills complete three stages in the simulation exercise. First, they must answer 12 questions about defensive driving skills and traffic regulations, which include pedestrian safety and driving in different weather conditions; second, they spend five minutes in the driving simulator, with the supervision and guidance of an instructor; and finally, they get the results of their evaluation with the correct answers to the questions." After the driving simulation, students can review their performance and learn where they made mistakes, he added. The simulator institute would improve the driving skills of the public, especially youth, through a unique experience with audio and video visuals, without going out on a real road. It also teaches them in a limited time space how to avoid accidents.
