Twenty years ago, I had to go with a friend to the market to buy sanitary ware for my house, which was being built. The salesman recommended that I buy German-made sanitary sets because they would last for 10 years. "If they make it for five years, I'd be more than satisfied," I told him while laughing. I bought the sets and installed them. Most of them are still in good condition even though 20 years have passed, while only a few of them broke and had to be replaced. I paid a lot of money for the sanitary ware but it was more than worth it. However, times have changed and if you go to the market today, you will not find many products which have been made in Germany. The market has been flooded with low-quality Chinese goods that cost half the price of those which were in the market in the past. If someone buys a ventilation fan made in China, it will not last a week, and he will find himself having to buy another one. Similarly, if you buy a pair of shoes that are made in China, you will discover that they do not last too long, and that they get damaged and tear easily. Look at the furniture made in China; it is everywhere in the market. The furniture comes in different shapes and beautiful colors, but although it looks nice, it is not well made and does not last long. In fact, it is more than fragile, and it cannot be fixed if broken. A friend of mine bought such furniture six months ago because it was cheap. When I met him recently, I asked him how the furniture was holding up. "It is bad and low-quality and won't last for long," he said.
