Radim Vrbata scored twice, Jannik Hansen once and the Vancouver Canucks held off the Minnesota Wild 3-2 Wednesday night. Daniel Sedin had two assists, Ryan Miller stopped 30 shots and Vancouver allowed fewer than three goals for the first time in 11 games, winning for just the third time in that span. Thomas Vanek and Charlie Coyle scored and Minnesota lost for just the second time in 10 home games. The Canucks have been looking for scoring lately from someone other than Hansen and the Sedin twins. Their line had 13 of Vancouver's 21 goals in the team's previous seven games. Vrbata might be that guy. He's now scored three goals in two games after a nine-game drought and has six goals this season after recording 31 tallies last season. Vrbata got a fortunate bounce to snap a 1-1 tie midway through the second period. Canadiens 5, Rangers 1 Devante Smith-Pelly scored twice as the Montreal Canadiens earned a potentially costly 5-1 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Goaltender Carey Price stopped 22 of 23 shots to grab the win, but left the game after two periods for undisclosed reasons. He missed eight games earlier this season with a lower-body injury and was playing in only his third game since returning. Bruins 3, Red Wings 2 (OT) Frank Vatrano's second goal of the game, with 1:28 left in overtime, gave the Boston Bruins a 3-2 come-from-behind win against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. Defenseman Colin Miller also scored and had an assist for Boston while goaltender Jonas Gustavsson made 32 saves. Blue Jackets 2, Devils 1 The Columbus Blue Jackets killed off five New Jersey Devils power plays on the way to a 2-1 win at the Prudential Center. Columbus (9-14-0) got goals from William Karlsson and Matt Calvert. Predators 3, Sabres 2 Mike Fisher, Craig Smith and Cody Hodgson scored to lead the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Goalie Carter Hutton made 30 saves for Nashville (12-6-3). Penguins 4, Blues 3 (OT) Evgeni Malkin scored on a backhander at 1:03 of overtime Wednesday to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues. In other games it was: Capitals 5, Jets 3; Hurricanes 4, Oilers 1; Islanders 3, Flyers 1; Lightning 2, Kings 1 (shootout); Coyotes 4, Ducks 2; Senators 5, Avalanche 3; Blackhawks 5, Sharks 2.
