RIYADH — The Ladies Chapter of Pakistan Writers Club-Riyadh (PWC-LC) has elected its new leadership. Ms. Farah Ehsan was elected as the convener and Ms. Madiha Malik was elected as deputy convener of PWC-LC. Both Farah and Madiha were elected unopposed. PWC-LC is an association of Pakistani creative ladies who have proficiencies in public speaking, writing, poetry, journalism, fine arts and fashion design. It is a ladies chapter of PWC. PWC-LC has 12 very active and talented lady members that include the following: Farah Ehsan, Madiha Malik, Asma Tariq, Dr. Rabia Amir, Madiha Noman, Shaheen Javed, Qundeel Aymen, Reem Al-Qurashi, Mehwish Qureshi, Aisha Tahir, Almas Mumtaz, and Ambreen Faiz Ahmad. Asma Tariq is the outgoing convener and Dr. Rabia is the outgoing deputy convener. PWC-LC was founded on Nov. 15, 2013, by PWC President Faiz Al-Najdi. And, the founding convener and deputy convener were Dr. Wardah Qureshi and Dr. Erum Qalbani respectively. Al-Najdi had founded a ladies chapter of PWC to allow a platform to the talented ladies from among the Pakistani community in Riyadh with an aim and objective of promoting literary and social activities by the Pakistani ladies in Riyadh. This was a long standing ladies community demand also and which was finally realized. As per the governing byelaws of PWC & PWC-LC, election is due after every two years. The last cabinet of PWC-LC headed by Convener Asma Tariq and Dr. Rabia Amir was dissolved on Nov. 1 and elections were announced. General Secretary of PWC Ashiq Hussain conducted the process of this election as the designated Election Commissioner. Convener-Elect Ms. Farah Ehsan is a motivated professional having experience in supply chain management and administration. She was born in Islamabad, Pakistan, had early education from Karachi. Later on, graduated from Punjab University and accomplished post graduate degree in economics & finance from International Islamic University, Islamabad. She has worked with different multinationals, including Squire Patton Boggs and Huawei Technologies (Pvt) Ltd. Farah is a founding member of PWC-LC and prior to getting elected as the convener has served PWC-LC as it's finance secretary. Deputy Convener-Elect Ms. Madiha Malik by profession is a graphic designer. She earned her bachelor's degree in graphic design from Multan University. She was born and raised in MultanPakistan. She is presently working as a freelance designer and her interests are in visual arts, photography, fine arts, film making and in performing arts. She has also remained associated with the Multan Writers Club, Performing Arts Society and Film Making Society in Multan. Prior to getting elected as Deputy Convener of PWC-LC, Madiha Malik has served as PRO (Public Relations Officer) for PWC-LC. The new leadership of PWC-LC will now select and form their Cabinet. This would include appointments to the posts of finance secretary, PRO (public relations officer), and event coordinator. The oath taking ceremony of the convener, deputy convener and its newly-formed Cabinet would take place on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebrations of PWC. That would be in the last week of December and would coincide with Dec. 25 – the birthday of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
