Two days after the NHL announced its All-Star game is going to a 3-on-3 format, Johnny Gaudreau made his case to represent Calgary. Gaudreau had a highlight-reel goal 1:38 into overtime and the Calgary Flames beat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 Friday night to remain perfect in overtime games. The Flames dominated the overtime and finally solved goalie Scott Darling with their sixth shot of the period. Gaudreau chased down his own rebound, stole the puck from Brent Seabrook and then went backhand-to-forehand to beat Darling from in tight. "He's a big goalie and he's making saves from outside the crease when I was shooting on him all night. I figured I'd try to get him in close and get him down and get the puck up," Gaudreau said. Flames goaltender Karri Ramo watched from 180 feet away and admired Gaudreau's ability to finish. Calgary has won five times in six games that went to extra time, with the lone loss coming in its only shootout. The two teams were playing for the second time in less than a week. Chicago won 4-1 at the United Center last Sunday. Canadiens 5, Islanders 3: Montreal defenseman Jeff Petry collected the first two-goal game of his career as the Canadiens beat the New York Islanders 5-3 at the Barclays Center. Petry entered with just one goal in the first 20 games of the season. Blue Jackets 4, Predators 0: Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had 39 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Blue Jackets scored a 4-0 win over the Nashville Predators at Nationwide Arena. Of Bobrovsky's 12 career shutouts, two of them have come against Nashville. Red Wings 3, Kings 2: Detroit goaltender Petr Mrazek made 35 saves and the Red Wings held on for a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings at Joe Louis Arena. Tomas Tatar, Mike Green and Dylan Larkin scored for Detroit. Captain Henrik Zetterberg and winger Justin Abdelkader had two assists each. Maple Leafs 2, Hurricanes 1 (SO): Joffrey Lupul scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 2-1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena. Peter Holland of Toronto and Riley Nash of Carolina converted earlier in the shootout. The Maple Leafs are 2-3 in shootouts this season, while the Hurricanes were in their first. Oilers 5, Devils 1: Edmonton goaltender Anders Nilsson continued his mastery of New Jersey, stopping 19 of 20 shots as the Oilers beat the Devils 5-1. It was Nilsson's 13th career NHL win, but the fourth over New Jersey. In six appearances against the Devils, Nilsson has never allowed more than two goals in a game, stopping 139 of 146 shots. — Agencies
