Eight Ford Facts
One of the world's most well-known and highly consumed American motor company in the Middle East and Africa is Ford Motor Company. But how much do we know about this iconic and successful car producer?
Here's eight things about the company you may not have known.
1. By the end of the next year, Ford will have eight products in the region, and by 2020 at least 30 new vehicles will be launched. Ford aims to open 35 new dealerships in the next two years across the region.
2. Like most major corporations today, is also focused on social community activities. The President of Ford Middle East and Africa, James Benintende said: "We are active in our communities throughout middle east and Africa. I can give you so many examples, Warriors in pink right here in Saudi Arabia for breast cancer."
He explained that they participate in AIDS programs in South Africa that are very important for raising awareness. Ford also does a lot of work with children in several locations in sub-Sahara Africa. "We also have an initiative where we look at driving schools for life so we actively participated in communities in helping awareness in better driving skills," he added.
3. Currently Ford uses EcoBoost technology that allows the company to put smaller and more powerful engines in it vehicles, making them more fuel efficient. The new technology could help the company insure against oil price instability.
"We have a real intention and plan to comply with the corporate arrange fuel requirement in Saudi Arabia. We actually worked to build a plan to comply so we know that is going to be a change that might happened," Benintenden said.
4. Ford is a favorite brand among younger consumers.
5. Ford is expecting a sales growth in the regional market, especially as the total Middle East and Africa car market is expected to grow 40 percent by the end of the decade to 5.5 million vehicles. According to Benintende, customers' tastes are diverse since the region spans 67 markets from Saudi Arabia to South Africa, and from Nigeria to Kenya.
6. Lincoln, a Ford brand, will open it first store in Dubai soon, and will be the first store in the United Arab Emirates that exclusively sells Lincoln products.
7. In 2016 Ford will open a new store in China every ten days. The Executive Vice President in Europe Middle East and Africa, James D. Farley Jr, explained that Ford is coming from a place where it had a very modest participation and is accelerating very quickly.
"Lincoln is a good example. Lincoln is expanding. In fact, two or three of our Chinese stores are in the 10 largest Lincoln dealers in the world, and we have already launched one year ago, so the Lincoln brand in china is getting so much attention and Ford continues to launch its vehicles," he said.
8. Three models are designed for the Chinese market specifically. James D. Farley, Jr said "these cities are growing very fast and in these area we finally have products that are produced specifically for China, so ford has invested in models that only sold in China."
