Nail-biting encounters in Youm Al-Watani Cup

RIYADH — New franchise Shams Abha Avians and Interactive Jeddah Jockeys registered their first wins in the second round of Youm Al-Watani Cup 2015 here recently.
Shams Abha Avians defeated HS Khobar Knights by 52 runs. Shams posted 221-7 with Rauf scoring 70 (27 balls — 4x4, 6x7), Salman 55 and Danish 33. Michael took 3-52 for Knights. Khobar was restricted to 169 with Waheed claiming 4-41 and Salman 2-33. Naushad (60) and Michael (40) put up some resistance. Salman walked away with Player of the Match honors.
AR Dammam Fighters downed Delta Najran Jewels by 4 wickets. Najran Jewels made 216-8 in the allotted 16 overs with Saleem contributing 62, Nouman 36, Touseef 28 and Abrar 25. Imran bagged 3-30, while Sayeed and Hashim took 2 wickets each. Azam smashed 98 (36 balls - 4x6, 6x10) and Mustafa 54 to help their team reach 219-6 in 15.2 overs. Saqlain (3-50) and Salem (2-35) were among the wickets wickets. Azam's batting earned him Player of the Match award.
Syed's Najd Najams bagged its second win by defeating Alga TT by 37 runs. Electing to bat first, Najd put on 190-8 with Saleem making 39 and Ajay 32. Amjad 3-41, Azeez 3-56, Sami 2-52 shared the wickets. Alga, in reply, lost wickets at regular intervals and was limited to 153-9 with Imran hitting 33 and Hashim 30. Saleem scalped 4-23 and was named the Player of the Match and also the Star of the Day, sponsored by NRIF Riyadh.
Dream India Saudi Gems added two more valuable points to its kitty by defeating GK Gizan Gladiators by 9 runs. Imran, Player of the Match, etched 64, captain Ehsan 30 and Ibrahim 24 to take Dream India to 190-7. Imran claimed 3-23 and Pradeep 2-37. Gizan was in race till the end, but fell short by 9 runs (181-7). Praveen hit 28, Kareem 27, Imran 27 and Pradeep 23. Sarfaraz, Yousuf and Imran shared 6 wickets.
Friendi's Jubail Jaguars went down against Abad Yanbu Warriors by 7 wickets. Friendi's mustered 208 in 15 overs with contributions from Naushad (63), Shakeel (51) and (Iqlakh) 29. Shageer scalped 3-50, while Zubair, Shareef and Sadaka took 2 wickets each. Yanbu's Shamsu blasted 98 off 27 balls, Badru 37, and Shageer 36 to take the total to 209-3 in 13 overs. Shamsu was adjudged the Player of the Match.
The match between Mazaya Arab Royals and Mir Saudi Stallions turned out to be the match of the day. Stallions, opting to bat first, posted 209-7 with Naqeeb making 87 and Ahmed Tamimi 45. Zaki claimed 3-38 and Muzammil 2-41. Moin (41), Salah (38) and Waseen (24) were among the runs for Mazaya. Salah, Player of the Match, turned the tables on Stallions by hitting the required 12 runs off the last 2 balls with 2 big sixes and secured Mazaya a 1-wicket win. Sharfuu bagged 5-58 and Asiq 2-40.
Interactive Jeddah Jockeys registered its first win defeating Saudi DM Hail Heros by 3 runs. Jeddah made 219-3 with an opening partnership of 176 between Ibrahim (70) and Abdur Rehman (73). Khurram blasted 101 off 32 balls, Yaseen 44 as it ended up 216-4. Ibrahim won the Player of the Match award.
Oubler Riyadh Ryders secured its second win against Mashal Taif Tigers by 3 runs. Oubler, put into bat, scored 155-6 with Waseem notching 71 and Suffian 30. Hussain took 3-28. Mashal started well, but lost wickets in a heap to end 3 runs short at 152-5. Shoaib made 32 and Sadat 31. Ameer took 3-35. Waseem of Oubler was named Player of the Match.
