A recent jet crash has cast doubts over the participation of Saudi Falcons team in the International Bahrain Exhibition. The crash occurred Tuesday when one of the teams of Hawk 65A aircraft faced trouble with the jet after taking off from King Faisal Airbase in Tabuk. “The pilot radioed the airport team to fill the runway with fireproof foam. The plane landed on the foam without a fire, but it was damaged. The pilot escaped death but was injured,” a source said. A Ministry of Defense investigation found that the accident was caused by a collision with a bird, which led to engine malfunction. “The team fears they may have to cancel their participation in the aerobatics exhibition in Bahrain which is due on Jan. 14, 2012,” the source said. __
