Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Employers who don't report prolonged unexplained absence of their workers to the authorities concerned will be punished along with the workers. This is part of a number of measures announced after a meeting of the ministries of interior and labor to crack down on the violators of residency and labor regulations. They said the crackdown campaign will continue under the slogan "Be Regular." Labor Minister Mufrej Al-Haqbani and undersecretary of the Interior Ministry Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Salim met in Riyadh on Monday to discuss the coordination of efforts in the crackdown campaign. Senior officials from the two ministries also attended the meeting. The meeting called for intensifying fieldwork with the help of new electronic technology to arrest violators. It also called for linking the two ministries electronically. It said the crackdown campaign will inspect expatriates on the streets and at their work places. The officials asked employers to inform the authorities if any of their workers are absent and are suspected of working for another employer.
