Movie cars featured in Hollywood blockbuster films will be among the star attractions at the 13th Dubai International Motor Show (DIMS).
Adding to the glamour of the show, fans from around the world will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see iconic movie cars, such as the Toyota 1968 2000 GT and the 1985 Aston Martin V8 Volante that have featured in two Bond films and will be showcased in the new Motoring Nostalgia Museum, where 40 years of the most iconic cars ever made will be showcased, along with the newest models driven by Hollywood greats on showcase throughout the show.
Other cars that will be on display include the Lykan from W Motors which was featured in Furious 7 and the Volvo P1800 which was driven by Roger Moore's character (Simon Templar) in the hit 60's TV series ‘The Saint'. Roger Moore was reportedly so smitten with the cult 60's car that he bought one for his own personal use.
"Many of these cars are as memorable as the films themselves," said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Management, Dubai World Trade Centre.
"It's going to be exciting for our show visitors to see these ‘superstar' cars up close. Bringing a touch of Hollywood charm to DIMS further increases the appeal for our audiences who are interested in a range of different cars, whether they be from a movie set or from across the eras."
Tony Stark's vehicle of choice of the 2016 Audi R8 in Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron movie will be a key addition to the Audi stand at this year's show. It's the latest inclusion as part of Audi's eight-year relationship with Marvel as it supplies the movie with the new TTS and A3 Cabriolet, as well as the 5.2-litre V10-powered R8 supercar.
The latest chapter in the James Bond story, Spectre, sees Special Agent 007 played by Daniel Craig take on the villains and, as usual, he is surrounded by stylish cars, but none as glamorous as the Jaguar C-X75.
Spectre, the 24th James Bond film, sees the Jaguar C-X75 drive through the moonlit streets of Rome in one of the movie's most iconic high speed chase scenes. Driven by the henchman Hinx, and played by Dave Bautista, the Jaguar C-X75 supercar was named the most advanced Jaguar ever created.
Bruce Robertson, Managing Director for Jaguar Land Rover MENA, said: "Our Special Vehicle Operations team is responsible for three stars in the new James Bond film, Spectre. The Range Rover Sport SVR, special Land Rover Defender and the Jaguar C-X75 supercar concept have been created for some of the toughest James Bond villains and this show is the perfect platform to celebrate these iconic production and concept vehicles with our customers in MENA."
The highly successful Mission Impossible returned to cinemas in August with Rogue Nation and again its lead character Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, returned with the new BMW M3 as his car of choice.
Following a successful partnership with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011, BMW returned with not just the M3 but also the new BMW 7 Series luxury saloon and X5, as well as motorcycles and technological input for the production crew of the latest Rogue Nation movie.
Commenting on the collaboration, Leanne Blanckenberg, Corporate Communications Manager, BMW Group Middle East, said: "The partnership is an exciting and truly action-packed initiative by the BMW Group. The dynamic performance, technological leadership and the unique BMW ConnectedDrive features shown throughout the movie proved that once again, BMW was the perfect vehicle for Ethan Hunt and his IMF team."
In its 13th edition, the show has established itself as the region's most influential automotive event, bringing together manufacturers, distributors, industry specialists and key buyers from around the world as well as affluent motoring enthusiasts.
Many new additions have been introduced to this year's showpiece event, including for the first time the new Motoring Nostalgia Museum, which offers a collection of iconic cars from through the ages. Classic car aficionados will be spoilt for choice with 80 of the rarest and most desirable cars from the 1950s through to the 1980s gathered under one roof.
The 2015 Dubai International Motor Show will open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov.10; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov.11; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Nov.12 and 13; and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov.14.
