RIYADH — Indian Engineers Forum organized a technical session on Building Information Modeling Technology at Knowledge Core Center, Riyadh. Sivate Hussain, an expert in BIM and allied technologies, addressed the distinguished professionals on the subject with a live presentation. He took the audience through different stages of planning, designing and execution and concluded by explaining how BIM can make a remarkable difference to clients, consultants and contractors. He presented audience with live examples of projects, while demonstrating the technical problems being faced by engineers at design and execution stages. He made a clear demarcation between the traditional project management processes with that of BIM. BIM is not just a tool but a process that supports Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) methodologies, pulling all stakeholders together throughout the entire design and construction process and beyond to the operations and maintenance of the building. During this session, he explored how one can adopt BIM and the methodologies for planning, executing and adjusting its implementation. BIM is changing how buildings, infrastructure, and utilities are planned, designed, built, and managed. Autodesk BIM solutions help turn information into insight and deliver business value at every step in the process. Benefits of Building Information Modeling Architects and contractors mostly agree on the degree to which their projects benefit from BIM. Better design solutions and reduced errors and omissions in construction documents are in the top two for each. They are also aligned on the experience of greater client engagement resulting from BIM. Construction phase benefits of fewer field problems and reduced rework. Hussain convinced the elite gathering with concrete data that BIM is cost and resources saving technology. He proved how a minor change in design could have created havoc earlier, can now be solved with just few clicks. The next segment was handled by Syed Waqas on the topic of "Visionary Leaders" which was highly interactive and interesting and anchored by Syed Faisal. Amir Khan, chairman IEF, along with prominent dignitaries, presented a memento to Hussain. Among the prominent attendees were IEF advisory board member Tariq Masood, past presidents – Owais Ahmed and Suhail Ahmad, IEF executive members — Farhan Hashmi, Dr. Sayeed Mohiuddin, Syed Faisal, Tabrez, IEF members – Atif, Munis Hashmi, Nadeem (from Dammam) and others including Syed Zia-ur Rahman, Rayeesuddin, Adam Chanda, Omar Khan.
