At least 10 workers were injured in an accident opposite the Taibah Gas Station on Madinah Highway here. Tabuk Red Crescent spokesman Khalid Bin Murdhi said four of the workers sustained serious injuries and were taken to King Khalid Hospital. Six workers sustained mild injuries and were in a stable condition. Five of them were admitted to King Fahd Tabuk Hospital and the sixth to King Salman Military Hospital. The workers were traveling on the back of a pickup truck when the accident took place. The transport company is held responsible for the accident as carrying passengers on the back of trucks is illegal. Boy rescued from burning apartment RAFHA — Civil Defense firemen rescued a boy who was trapped in an apartment on fire in Al-Aziziyah District of Rafha on Saturday. Northern Borders Civil Defense spokesman Col. Fahd Al-Enizi said the boy did not suffer any injuries. But a man who was also trapped in the apartment was to be taken to hospital where he was recovering from health problems caused by smoke inhalation. Meanwhile, firefighters contained a fire that broke out in a welding workshop in the industrial district of Rafha. Al-Enizi said highly inflammable garbage lying around the workshop caught fire from a welding spark. The firemen doused the blaze even though it spread quickly to nearby workshops. No injuries were reported. Employee wreaks havoc in hospital JAZAN — A hospital employee was detained for assaulting and threatening colleagues and disturbing public peace. The employees of Al-Dayer Bani Malik Hospital contacted the police to report one of their co-workers who had come to the hospital in the morning in an unstable mental state. He left the hospital when one of the employees asked him to do so, but he returned two hours later and began verbally and physically abusing the other employees. The employees managed to restrain him until police arrived. He was arrested on charges of assault and disturbing peace in a public place. 2,000 bikes seized in monthlong campaign MAKKAH — The Traffic Department seized a total of 2,000 motorcycles after its owners committed various traffic violations. Director of Traffic Flow in Makkah Traffic Department Mamdouh Al-Hazmy said the department launched an inspection campaign throughout the city a month ago and it is still ongoing. The campaign includes 48 field inspection teams. The inspectors are active on a daily basis in various neighborhoods and districts. The campaign is not restricted to motorcyclists, but all sorts of traffic violations are recorded. The most common violations recorded are driving in the opposite direction and running red lights. The campaign also aims to raise awareness of traffic regulations among motorcyclists.
