An unsuspecting young girl was walking home from school with a classmate Sunday afternoon when a car stopped beside her, the male driver started swearing at her, then pulled out a hunting rifle, shot her at point-blank range and sped away. The traumatized young girl, who is in middle school, was rushed to the hospital where doctors managed to stabilize her condition, according to police reports. As the news spread and panic and fear engulfed the city, a massive manhunt was launched by the city police and other security agencies. Police officers worked feverishly to put an identikit together from the description they received from the young girl and sent it out to all patrols. They got a break when a call was received by their operations room from a Pakistani man warning that the gunman had opened fire on him, but had missed. The Pakistani expatriate gave the police further details about the man, his car and the rifle he was using to fire at innocent people. As the patrols swept through the city streets in search of the gunman, the police received another call, this time from a Filipino who said he had just been shot by a man with a rifle. The wounded man was also taken to hospital. By this time the police had already been able to determine who the man was and where he lived. The patrols moved in and arrested him at his house. __
